GEMMA WHELAN

GRAHAM CLARK

“A female Tim Vine…most impressive”

-CHORTLE

2013 sees Gemma Whelan in her debut solo Edinburgh Festival Fringe show, CHASTITY BUTTERWORTH & THE SPANISH HAMSTER.

Gemma, or Chastity Butterworth, as her character is known, is also sometimes known as Yara Greyjoy from HBO’s Game of Thrones, which is rad.

Chastity is delightful, sweet, hilarious, with an occasional love of swear words and sex. She’ll be joined on stage by a range of other characters (she’ll try and foil you, but they are all played by her).

With only four gigs under her belt, Gemma won the Variety Award at the Funny Women Awards in 2010.

Last year, Gemma starred in One Man, Two Guvnors in the West End (as Rachel Crabbe), she’s recently appeared in Nick Helm’s BBC3 pilot and she’ll appear in the next series of BBC3’s Live at the Electric.

When Gemma is not gigging she likes to watch the washing go round in her washing machine and she's ace at origami.

“A really great comic…I wish more people knew of him”

 -Zach Galifiankis

Making his Edinburgh Festival Fringe debut this year is the eccentrically relatable, quirky but familiar, Graham Clark: the everyman comic from another dimension…alright then, Canada!

Under a warm and scraggly stage presence – somewhere between hobo and rockabilly – lies an incisive wit and a sharp eye for the ridiculous, shared with an infectious sense of bewilderment and fun.

Whether as an astute consumer of guilty pleasures and pop culture (from Wrestlemania to reality TV), or the anti-hero of everyday life (from bus rides to standoffs with deadbeat roommates), Clark parlays his charming outsider take into unforgettable comedy for insiders and outsiders alike.

As well as selling-out an “absolutely extraordinary” (St Paul’s Lifestyle) one night only show in London on the same night as the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony with his brand of “off beat, fresh and entertaining” (Crispy Comedy Cuts) comedy; Graham has filmed his own hour-long Comedy Now special for CTV, appeared at Just For Laughs three times, has had guest spots on HBO’s Funny As Hell and NBC’s Last Comic Standing and, is a regular guest on Canada’s number one comedy radio program The Debaters on CBC.
